His life is a mirror of metaphor, a reflection of what you see in tandem of what you give. You don't become what you didn't work to be. He is who he is today because of what he put in his toils. On the first day, he got a job as a teacher, he met life's cruelty when he was knocked down by a bike. Months to follow saw him crippled to the ground as he awaited nature's healing. Ordinary minds would have submitted to the feeble twist of fate but not Chief Sylvester Momoh Onoja, famous educationist, administrator, and inimitable reference of class.
His life is a sparkling template of reverence, for nowhere he stepped on without living dotted traces of impact coated in greatness. As the first Principal in the first Federal Government College Gwolawo, he made the school a domain reference of real learning where parents sent their children for domesticated learning from across the country. So profound, that he was made a life principal and first northerner of the first government-owned college in Nigeria established in 1909- the famous Kings College Lagos in recognition of his cultivated excellence in running the school. That he is referred to as Principal Emeritus is to the toils of his ingenuity. He holds the title of teaching in the first college in northern Nigeria, the Barewa College, and also a lecturer at the first university in northern Nigeria. This is in addition to being principal of Saint Peter College Idah and Saint Charles Ankpa.
Chief Sylvester Momoh Onoja OON, the Odoma Ata Igala, the last of them is a living enigma who submitted himself to the rules of life. A disciplinarian to the core, rooted in uncompromising principles, and like his permanent white clothing, he exudes unblemished character. You hardly find in his almost 80 years in existence, any tangible traces of shame, vices, and iniquities- like nature, he lives a life of unstained potency.
