16Th Matriculation Ceremony: College of Health Sciences & Technology Idah Matriculates 500 Students as Provost Charges Freshers to Imbibe Excellence



The Provost College of Health Sciences and Technology Idah, Comrade Dr. Nuhu Solomon Anyegwu has urged the management staff and students of the institution to vigorously strive to Imbibe the daily culture and lifestyle of the academic to achieve continuous excellence. 
Dr. Anyegwu gave this charge on Wednesday April 5 2023 at the 16th Matriculation Ceremony of the Citadel of Learning, featuring newly admitted students of the 2022/2023 academic season at the convocation square.

The matriculating students could not hide their excitement as they were beautifully adorned in their academic gowns in readiness to be fully ushered into the college to pursue various programs. 
In his opening remark, Dr. Abdulraheen Yusuf, Chairman Governing Council, College of Health Sciences and Technology Idah charged the matriculating students to be 'committed to (their) studies and be obedient to the rules and regulations of the college'

According to him, ' the leadership/Management led by Comrade Dr. Nuhu Solomon Anyegwu is exemplary, fruitful and result oriented. In short, the achievements of this present administration are unprecedented and are known (by all). Please keep it up!'
Anyegwu, who was rewarded with an award,  as ' World Best Provost', the Registrar Mr. Abdulazeez Musa inclusive for selfless service in recognition of his doggedness and commitment to positive change especially in influencing the Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello to approve automatic employment to the best-graduating students of the college. Out of the ten (10) beneficiaries of the compulsory job offered, six (6) were posted back to their alma mata to serve as lecturers while the rest were absorbed by the Ministry of Health. The  6 young, budding, and ebullient lecturers thought it wise to express their happiness with the indefatigable provost for painstakingly registering his interest in them to be posted back to the college through the power of his office.
In his ever-dynamic speech, the provost, San., Dr. Nuhu Solomon Anyegwu specially congratulated the students for their admissions to the college after scaling through the hurdles of the probationary period. He advised everyone to shun all forms of demur demeanor.

' I, therefore charge you to be of good conduct and behavior throughout your academic sojourn in this college. Besides, get hold of the student's comprehensive handbook and strictly comply with the rules and regulations contained therein"

He said also extended his warmest regards and appreciation to the members of staff - teaching and non-teaching. The solidarity and maturity displayed are second to none across the globe ', I appreciate you greatly for your acceptance of my administration, your sincere hard work has been the result of quality training in this college, the discipline in place now, and distinction in our national examination result is overwhelming ' 
The narrative of the monuments of architectural masterpieces witnessed in the college cannot be complete without heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State. The college for the first time has many facilities built under Comrade Dr. Nuhu Solomon Anyegwu's led administration. These facilities include ; 
- Prince Abubakar Audu Lecture Theatre Hall, 
- Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello lecture hall, 
- Ultra Modern College Clinic, 
- Dr. Michael Ameh Oboni's expanded Medical Laboratory, 
- College Water factory, 
- Construction, beautification, and digitalization of the college entrance gate, 
- the ongoing building of three Lecture halls which will be named after our present royal majesty Dr. Alhaji Mathew Oguche Akpa lecture hall, 
- as well as a thirty-two (32) office administration duplex taken over by the state government at the foundation level.   
"The monumental infrastructure, academic and administrative transformation carried out in the college which culminated to 100% accreditation of courses offered in the institution " (is a force to reckon with anytime, any day.). The intelligent guidance, robust and result-oriented policies of the Governing Council led by Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf are sincerely celebrated." 

Stressing further the challenges bedeviling the college from attaining the desired national and global competitive horizon, Anyegwu said "The college is still having the following nagging issues begging for intervention by individuals, corporate bodies and government of Kogi State, first the non-completion of four (4) parameters fencing of the college leafing to the intrusion of men of the underworld, particularly at this critical time of our national life... Then the completion of 1000 seating capacity lecture theatre for the conduct of nations examination to enable us to introduce more courses for effective primary healthcare delivery system in Kogi State "

"You can imagine this college can offer fifty (50) Courses but at the moment we have only ten (10) existing courses ": Anyegwu said

He also expresses worry over the non-enlistment of the college under the TETFUND beneficiaries institution list. And indeed the dilapidated road network and landscaping of the internal roads of the college. 

" I am aware His Excellency our education-friendly Governor has graciously granted the approval alongside with State Executive Council for the construction of the road": Anyegwu said 

Dignitaries present at the 16 Matriculation ceremony included members of the academia, Royal fathers and paramount ruler of Igala Kingdom, Attah Igala, HRM Dr. Matthew Alaji  Oguche, Akpa II represented by the Eje Ibaji, Cheif  (Dr.) John Egwemi, as well as Chief Abel Etuh, the Etemahi of Igalaland, prayed fervently for God almighty to strengthen the management and members of staff of the college to pilot the affairs of the college to an enviable height.

 The Executive Governor of Kogi State was competently represented by  Dr. Ahmadu Jibril Oludare, Special Adviser (S.A) on Youth. Also present was Isah Onimisi Babangida Senior Special Assistant  (SSA) on Student Affairs

The Special Adviser (S.A) Information and Communication, Dr. Otta Gabriel mastered the ceremony in the usual fashion and style. 

Onimisi congratulated the new students and the management for hosting a very successful and excellent matriculation program. 

Permanent Secretary,  Ministry of Education,  Mr. Dele remarked, if I have my way if the power lies in my hand, I would have made Anyegwu 's appointment  as Provost  Permanent" 

 "The provost has done very, very well, the state government is aware of  developmental stride and with assurance  greater responsibility lies ahead": Dr. Ahmad added
