Tribute to A Unique Soldier of Democracy on your Birthday

If not for your technical expertise Attai Stephen Koginfo would have been a forgone story. 

At a point, politicians hijacked Koginfo for personal, subjective reasons. Attai, you stood your ground and reclaimed the mandate of the organization from the whims and caprices of private vendetta.

It also came to a point, all people on the Koginfo WhatsApp group started receiving hacked messages just to ruin a system awakening the masses to their rights.

 Some of Attai's family members began to collect staccato monthly salaries from the state government, some were suspended for writing against the charade of 0%  salary. 

A rival social media was established to subdue Koginfo, but we held our solid front. We can't imagine a democratic system of a government behaving like a military Junta, Kogi in the news always for the wrong reason. 

The narrative must change. 

All we need is for the Kogi government to start addressing the primary needs of the people through town hall meetings from village to village, clan by clan heads, the people claiming that they are representing the interest of Igalas, Egbiras, Okun, Bassa etc in either in Lokoja 🧿 Abuja FCT are fake and out for their pockets, not the masses. 

The policy made at the local state and national levels does not translate to the yearnings and aspirations of the people at the home front of democracy. In the same vein votes collated during elections from wards, and villages to the local and state government levels do not correspond with the intention of the people at the grassroots.  This is where vote buying comes in. The people are made to eat up their physical and infrastructural development at the poll while the leaders live large in their palatial abode after winning an election only to remember the electorate at the expiration of their tenure. Who is fooling whom? For how long will this gory, insensitive counterattack continue? 

We need to educate ourselves. Vote buying is not good. We must stop eating our future on the day of ✅elections! We should elect homegrown politicians not outsiders if the people will suffer from their insensitivity, ignorance and maladministrations capable of setting congress buildings ablaze and above all attracting the wrath of God Almighty.

 The voice of the downtrodden must be heard.
