Igalamela/Odolu : Brutality, Aya Community Policing and Dastardly Act of The Men Unchecked.

 High-handedness, stop and search, unwarranted arrest, extortion, corruption and other professional misconduct that alienates people from security agencies is a common characteristics of some bad eggs especially in Aya , a suburb of Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu LG. This must be put to check and stopped to avoid bridge of public trust at the home front democracy.

 The legitimate role of Community policing actors is to build public trust through fair policing, professionalism and proper conduct without bias. It is also designed to cultivate public trust, community policing actors must take a cue from the perception of people towards existing formal security structures. However,  On the 29th of April,2021 at about 21:00hrs in Aya  village, Ogwu Abdul woke up from bed with the excitement of the day to give his  daughter out marriage. While the  introduction was going on, one Danlami Akowe took laws into his hand appeared at the venue of the ceremony, turned down the music in a one man squared distorted the occasion. 

 While the invited guest and family members scamper for safety. Akowe is alleged to have destroyed the electrical devices and carted away valuable property.

According to Muazu Ogwu, younger brother to Abdul Ogwu “my brother was quickly moved to the village leader and the Gago of the village, while on his way the community police stopped and asked where he was going.  He explained himself clearly on the disorganized programme and the urgent need to make it known to the elders. Surprisingly however, Immediately the community policing actors descended on him again,  beat Abdul up to coma with their guns and cable wires. Simply because my brother  was going to report the conduct likely and criminal act of one of their members during his daughters ceremony.”

 “ Sympathizers rushed my  brother down to the nearest hospital for first aid and later referred to General Hospital Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State for further treatment. He added

Eye witness account blamed the excessive use of force on the alleged claim on  the source of their backup from the traditional rulers as well Idah Zonal Area Commander, threating the lives of innocent citizens and motorist in their daily barricade or  heavy road block between the hrs of 18:00hrs -06:00 hrs without constitutional backup."

"The Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Commissioner of Police Kogi State, Area Commander Idah should bring the said Danlami Akowe and five others to order. This is with a view to prevent further community crises." : He added
