Igala Professionals: Applauded Mrs Tenuche's Appointment, Dissatisfied by Usman Ogbo Rector Position Gov Bello Offered

Igala Professional Assembly has commended Kogi government for appointing Professor M. Tenuche as the Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University. However, the body is dissatisfied with the appointment of Dr. Usman Ogbo as Rector of Kogi Polytechnic.

In a statement issued on 7th April, 2020, the body said Professor Tenuche is well known to most of its members and her firmness and commitment to KSU from the early days of the school is enough reason to expect positive changes when she eventually resumes. However, the body lamented the appointment of Dr Usman Ogbo as Rector of Kogi Polytechnic stressing that Ogbo is not morally equipped to run a polytechnic.

In the statement, the body said such a sensitive office should not be used as political compensation for Ogbo who by the way is not of the requisite discipline to govern a polytechnic. Polytechnics should be led by people of technical profession and not political scientists.

The statement ended with a call on the state government not to confirm the appointment of Dr Ogbo as substantive Rector of Kogi Polytechnic as such act will further destroy the already dying school.
The survival of the school is more than any ethnic or regional interest.
