Insecurity : Kogi Criminals are Imaginary, No Record of Arrest, Trail, Imprisonment, Rehabilitation or Reintegration, Killings Always

The notion that Kogi State residents will go about their normal businesses or sleep with their two eyes closed as the  state, according to Alhaji Yaya Bello is committed to ensuring the security of lives and property of residents in the state is applauded. 

However, such proactive (political) expression should be in line with globally. recognised best practices on security. 

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi praised the gallantry and swift response of the security team who engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, eliminated 2 along Ajaokuta highway Kogi State.

The question constantly begging for answer is , where lies the gallantry of Security Operatives, If criminals cannot be apprehended, face the wrath of law, corrected and  reintegrated. Yet we claimed to have detectives and homicide department, DSS, CID, SSS, FIB, humongous security vote over 4.6 billion annually par states and so on

“ The alleged criminals numbering five had blocked the road stopping vehicles until the men of the Anti-Crime Patrol team swooped on them AND ENGAGED THEM in fierce gun battle. In this case there was no report of the criminals breaking the rule of engagement against  the security operative. 

“Two of the criminals were killed as three others escaped into the bush with gunshot injuries.

“Whoever thinks he can engage in crime will be decisively dealt with. Our gallant security forces are on ground to ensure lives and property are secured.

Everyday killings, endless elimination of suspected criminals in Kogi State without a pragmatic approach to the hideout, clandestine sponsors and enemies of progress. It is nothing but the usual shenanigan of militocracy,  political dictatorship, NOT democratic democracy.

We should work towards an ambitious global goal. Anonymous report reached Koginfo about a  man who was caught numerous times and warned by Vigilante group in Igalaland not to steal or  pack people's domestic animals spread on the road enjoying the warmth nature of the coal tar at night sleeping. 

The last time the man, suspected criminal was caught on the way with pick-up van to launch the attack on goats, sheeps etc. The vigilante accosted the man, took him to a  caretaker local government chairman  ordered to be killed. 

When they learnt No gun could penetrate him many times , the vigilante adopted mob attack measure, butchered the victim to death or pieces. The dead body was dropped, littered the ground  near the man’s home over night as people gathered around it till afternoon before depositing in an unknown location.

May we handle security matters with equity, decorum, decency and best global blueprints. This is with the sole aim to build fair and effective criminal justice systems that benefit everyone.

It is only dictators and authoritarian regimes, we have as leader finding fun using criminal justice as a tool of oppression; eliminating criminals is considered a big achievement, robust score cards. 

Among the criminals made to face capital punishment without trial, who knows who is whom. Sometimes political enemy can be stage managed to make everyone believes.

We are yet to see records of how many criminals were apprehended?

How many are undergoing trials in the court of law?

How many are found guilty?

How many are under rehabilitation or imprisonment or reintegrated back to the society since the inception of APC, Alhaji Yaya Bello led government. The media cannotnbe hyped or warped to be singing fictious praise songs and encomium which is a poisoning perversion of the tenets of rule of law, fair play and Justice.

Without fair trials, trust in government and the rule of law collapses.

 Capital punishments, also called death penalty, execution of an offender without conviction by a court of law of a criminal offense is absurd.

 Capital Punishment should be distinguished from extra -judicial executions carried out without due process of law.

“The police teams are on the trail of the fleeing suspected kidnappers, combing bush areas around the location of incidence. No doubt, they will soon be killed ! Keep your ears to the ground. You will soon hear. This is Kogi State. Hush !
