Igalamela/Odolu: Barr. Cosmos Atabor Flags Off Business Support Scheme for Constituents
The lawmaker representinng Igalamela/Odolu Constituency, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Ilemona Atabor has flagged of the first phase of his economic empowerment programme for members of his constituency.
The programme entitled "CIA Business Support Grant" was flagged off at the lawmaker's constituency office at Ajaka, headquarters of Igalamela/Odolu LG.
The programme started with thirty (30) constituents drawn from the ten wards in the local government area privileged to benefit from its first phase.
According to the lawmaker, the first phase of the scheme (held on 19th June, 2020) was targeted at "carefully selected" women across all ten wards of the local government area. The next phase is expected to take place "very soon" and would focus on youths.
Hon. Cosmas Atabor called on the beneficiaries of the first phase of the CIA Business Support Grant to "make judicious use of the opportunity to start up a profitable business, or boost existing ones, and sure maximum returns" on their respective investments.
The Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Security for Igalamela/Odolu local government area, Hon. Ignatus Omachonu Onoja, who was a guest at the occasion, thanked the lawmaker for his generosity towards his constituents.
"This is not a constituency project. It is not an external grant. This is a clear demonstration of love and charity by our distinguished lawmaker.
"I passionately appeal to all the beneficiaries of this unique scheme to reward the sacrifices of Hon. Cosmas Atabor by investing cautiously and appropriately.
The programme was attended by an avanlanche of stakeholders, local government and ward Executive Council members of Igalamela/Odolu APC women and Youth.
Speaking, Hon. (Barr.) Cosmas Atabor made it categorically clear that this first phase of the scheme focused on economic empowerment, trade grants and business counseling for women.
