Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello Not Infected With Coronavirus – Commissioner


The Kogi State Government on Wednesday, dismissed reports that Governor Yahaya Bello has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Commissioner for information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo made the rebuttal in an interview  on Wednesday, against the backdrop of speculation that Bello may have contracted the virus, since he had contact with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, who has now tested positive to the disease.

According to Fanwo, the reports were untrue as the governor was yet to even undergone the test.


“The reports are not true, because he has not even undergone the test. He’s not having any symptoms that is related to COVID-19, and he’s healthy. Though he has self – isolated.

“Just like he has given directive to the people of the state to stay at home, he too is staying at home, but he’s not showing any symptoms of COVID-19. He’s going his routine, his exercises well. He’s working from home, ” Fanwo concluded.
